I am a freelance director, I am interested in making work professionally and with the wider community through new writing, devised work and adapted classic texts. Most recently I have directed new writing for the Bush Theatre, Talawa Theatre and Company Three. I have been the Participation Director on the Spalding Suite for Fuel. A director for rehearsed readings with Synergy Theatre and at the Bush. Leading workshops for Company Three, the Tricycle Theatre and the Royal Court. I am a Script reader for the National Theatre and an NT Connections Director. I am also Artistic director for Twisted Theatre, a diverse collective of artists making theatre in immersive and site responsive ways.
Previously I was Young company Director at the Bristol Old Vic from 2009 until October 2014, I was responsible for 350 young people engaged in weekly theatre making sessions. I championed more diversity within the young company collaborating with schools and other organisations across the city to target a wider demographic of membership. I developed the pioneering initiative: Made in Bristol, a one year part time apprenticeship scheme which nurtures a group of 18-25 year old theatre makers. This scheme now in its sixth year led to the formation of the award winning Wardrobe Ensemble. My production of Our Country’s Good won three awards at the National Student Drama Festival. I directed two productions selected to perform at the National Theatre for connections and their pop up space. I directed the sell-out show Pigeon English adapted for the stage from the man booker prize nominated novel at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013. In 2014 I was invited to be a guest director at the College of Charleston, USA.
